Yuri Inoo
Dr. Yuri Inoo is a musician and educator in the Los Angeles area. She has performed and collaborated with a wide variety of artists including Yo Yo Ma, John Williams, Steve Reich, Morten Lauridsen, Andrew Norman, Andrea and Matteo Bocelli, Michael Giacchino, Alan Menken, Christina Aguilera, OK Go, and members of NEXUS. She can be heard on movie soundtracks, such as Disney’s Encanto. An advocate for new music, she performs in numerous new music ensembles such as Brightwork, Jacaranda, Wild Up and Hear Now. Yuri holds teaching positions at Occidental College, University of Redlands, and Idyllwild Arts Academy. She is the Principal Percussionist with the Redlands Symphony, and an active freelancer with other regional orchestras and chamber ensembles in Southern California. She studied under David Rosenthal at San Francisco State University, and under Erik Forrester at University of Southern California where she received Masters and Doctorate degrees in Percussion Performance.
Erica Hou
Erica Hou started her musical journey in Tainan, Taiwan, at the age of four, immigrating to the U.S. in 2014. Currently, she is a fourth-year percussion performance major at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music participating in the Percussion Ensemble, Philharmonia and the FLUX Contemporary Ensemble. Her musical credits include the RISE Diversity Project, hosted by the Musicians at Play Foundation, and the New York University Broadway Symposium. As well as being an accomplished percussionist, Erica is an active photographer; she is president of the UCLA PhotoClub, a production team member of ColorBox Productions, and a very sought-after freelance photographer. As a linguistics minor at UCLA, Erica is versed in several languages. An alumnus of San Marino High School and the California State Summer School of the Arts, Erica Hou is excited to join LA Opera for the first time in its Off Grand series. Instagram: @rix.dothings
